Part of my Vegan MoFo 2013 is doing blog entries dedicated to each year I've been vegan.
I was lucky to experience that special type of tourism when you have a seasoned local to stay with and show you around. My friends Anjani and Anne, who I had befriended in Hong Kong, had recently moved to Anjani's native Manila and were living with her family. Later they moved to Anne's native Holland and I got to take another fun trip! But that's another year and another story.
Fortunately for me, Anjani's family, although no longer very devout, had at one point followed a particular sect of Hinduism, and were well-versed in preparing vegetarian analogs of traditionally meat-heavy Filipino dishes. We also sought out and ate at what may have, at that time, been Manila's only vegetarian restaurant.
Now that No Worries is back on the scene, I'm gonna have to hunt them down and get some good old-fashioned adobo in me! With food businesses being so competitive and volatile, especially in the pricey Bay Area, I'm really happy to see that a family-run business which fills such a unique niche is still fighting and thriving. If you think you may have the opportunity to try their food in person, check out their website for a menu and schedules of where the truck will be next! They also do catering- JUST SAYIN'.
Salamat for reading, po!
